Job Description:
This job is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities of the job include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership based on conducting multiple software implementations, and applying both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Additionally, this job is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.
LOB Specific Summary:
We are looking to hire a Senior Engineer to lead development and build out common Shared Services for Equities Cash Technology globally. Shared Services goal is to select, enhance, and deploy best in class reusable solutions for problems common across Equity Trading applications to reduce duplication and fragility and strengthen the overall foundation of the platform. The ideal candidate has significant practical experience in Electronic Trading of Equities in both C++ and Java and a passion for modern software architecture and development practices. Additionally this role will contribute and help design our low latency smart order router and market making products. S/he will take on a key role within our Equities Cash Trading Technology team, working with multiple partners across organizations including senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the design and engineering approach for complex features are consistent with the larger portfolio solution
- Define the technology tool stack for the solution and evaluate and adapt new testing tool/framework/practices for team(s)
- Enables team(s)/applications with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) capabilities and engages with other technical stakeholders pertaining to efficient functioning of CI-CD pipeline
- Guides and influences team(s) on design and best practices for high code performance –e.g. pairing, code reviews
- Provides end-to-end delivery of complex features, including automation, for either a single team or multiple teams, at the program level
- Conducts research, design prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, and features
- Works with stakeholders to establish high-level solution needs and with architects for technical requirements
- Driving the Equities Cash Technology Shared Services strategy, with the goal of significantly reducing duplication across applications and enable faster time to market for new trading and analytics use cases
- Participating in the technical design and development of the Low Latency Smart Order Router project, a set of highly performant C++ components creating improved execution capabilities for internal and external clients
- Participating in the technical design and development of the Systematic Risk Trading components and LOB buildout
- Liaising with the Equity LOB to drive a cohesive strategy supporting multiple workflows across lines of business
- Analyzing business requirements, forming an architectural design, overseeing cross team development and testing, and managing production issues
- Collaborating closely with our Site Reliability Engineering group to achieve industry leading reliability and scalability
- Developing roadmaps for continuous platform improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in both C++ and Java development on Linux
- Direct exposure to building Electronic Trading applications
- Automation first mindset across the software development lifecycle, particularly around shift-left testing
- Ability to architect resilient, instrumented, distributed systems achieving world class reliability
- Familiarity with Agile software development and associated best practices
- Enthusiastic, strong-minded person able to work closely with project teams in a multi-faceted role and help instill a responsible and professional culture
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical partners
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of financial asset classes (particularly Equities) and algorithmic trading of these products
