Overview:

CBC is seeking an IT Systems Specialist with experience in Windows OS (endpoint & server), Active Directory management, O365, application troubleshooting, and documentation. This role requires a strong understanding of IT administration principles, tools, and best practices, along with the ability to standardize and organize IT team documentation. This role will act as a link between the IT and production engineers and will be responsible for reviewing, triaging, and assigning tickets. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on professional with strong communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. This is a junior level position.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Systems Administration:

  • Performs regular support and maintenance of primarily Windows computers and servers. This includes installing, troubleshooting, repairing, patching, monitoring, and implementing security measures to protect systems and data.
  • Performs networking tasks including infrastructure installation, troubleshooting assistance, cabling, and end-to-end testing.
  • Assists business unit production engineers to install, maintain, and troubleshoot production specific software applications.
  • Collaborates with the broader IT team to support changes affecting company and business systems.
  • Regularly reviews repetitive tasks for opportunities to automate.
  • Uses PowerShell to gather information or automate common functions.

Active Directory Administration:

  • Completes tickets for onboarding and offboarding user accounts on schedule.
  • Creates, deletes, and modifies security and distribution group memberships and permissions.
  • Assists the IT team with group policy management.

Ticket Management:

  • Applies proficiency in IT ticketing systems to manage, prioritize, and resolve tickets within the queue in a timely manner.
  • Manages ticket escalations between IT Service Desk, IT Engineers, and Production Engineers.

Knowledge Management:

  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation of methodologies, processes, and specifications for the IT team and users.
  • Provides guidance and procedures to users and production engineers on IT-related topics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English with demonstrable ability to write clear and concise documentation without the assistance of AI.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing Windows endpoints (OS, applications, troubleshooting, DNS, DHCP) and managing Active Directory and/or Entra ID (e.g., accounts, security groups, group policies, distribution groups).
  • At least 2 years of infrastructure experience managing server hardware, power/network cabling, IP addressing, troubleshooting, and racking.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an IT ticketing system (e.g., ServiceDesk Plus, ServiceNow, Remedy).
  • At least 1 year of experience creating and updating IT documentation.
  • Competency in secure endpoint best practices, including hardening, patch management, and EDR tooling.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to follow through on tasks and deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or advanced technical certifications.
  • Previous experience working with radio, satellite, or other RF systems.
  • Excellent understanding of additional IT concepts: Advanced networking (BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN), email, SSL certificates, cloud computing, and security technologies.
  • Understanding of document and data retention policies and processes.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Capability to present information to audiences of varying sizes.
  • Close vision and ability to differentiate colors for documents, tickets, charts, etc.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, move IT equipment, and install hardware.
  • Ability to physically navigate data closets or raised floor data center.

  • This is an onsite, in-person position; remote working is not an option.
  • Regularly work in an office, broadcast studio, data center, or infrastructure closet.
  • Handle infrastructure, cabling, electrical, batteries, etc.
  • Position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call scheduled rotation including occasional weekends and holidays.
  • Occasional after hours and weekend maintenance and project work.

Occasional travel to other CBC sites as necessary.
