Job Title: Project Services Director
Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid Position, must live locally.
Job Summary:
The Project Services Director leads strategic project planning and execution, oversees comprehensive project vetting and evaluation, and provides consultative input to the organizational project pipeline. This role is responsible for assessing feasibility, level of effort, and strategic alignment of initiatives, chairing evaluation committees, and guiding prioritization decisions. The Project Services Director ensures effective risk, resource, and financial oversight, fosters strong stakeholder relationships, and drives quality assurance and continuous improvement. Additionally, they provide leadership and mentorship to project teams and department leaders, cultivating a collaborative and high-performing environment.
As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:
(50%) Project Vetting, Evaluation, and Pipeline Management
- Lead the vetting and evaluation of proposed projects, chairing a cross-functional committee to assess feasibility, strategic alignment, and level of effort for consideration and approval by the CEO and Executive Team.
- Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making, including assessments of resources and technical needs to complete.
- Develop standardized evaluation criteria and present recommendations to leadership.
- Evaluate and prioritize projects within the pipeline, consulting on strategic-level initiatives and providing insights to drive long-term business value. Extensive knowledge of company systems and operations is essential to accurately assess project feasibility, resource needs, and implementation complexity. This expertise will be used to consult on projects at various stages-from ideation through execution-ensuring alignment with system capabilities and organizational strategy.
(20%) Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and communicate a strategic vision for projects that align with organizational goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams to achieve objectives and drive long-term business value.
- Create and implement detailed project plans, manage scope, and facilitate project meetings to ensure successful outcomes.
- Assist in planning and executing special initiatives requiring advanced expertise and innovative solutions.
(10%) Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Maintain effective communication with team members, stakeholders, executive leadership, and external partners. Foster strong relationships and ensure stakeholder expectations are managed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Escalate issues appropriately and build executive-level relationships to ensure strategic alignment.
- Mentor junior PMs and guide department leaders in managing their own projects effectively.
(10%) Risk, Resource, and Financial Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate complex risks. Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans.
- Oversee resource allocation across multiple projects to maximize productivity.
- Manage project budgets and financial performance, ensuring delivery within financial targets.
- Track and report on key metrics including budget, hours, and timelines.
(10%) Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure thorough testing plans and documentation are created and executed.
- Track and resolve issues and deficiencies.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and optimize processes.

Experience:
- Ten years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects.
- Proven experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Project Analyst or similar role in a financial institution or related industry partner.
- Experience with:
- Gathering and documenting business requirements, business case documentation, project plans or related experience
- Configuration management and implementation, IT change management practices, release management and testing management practices and methods, as well as issue resolution
- Coaching and mentoring team members to ensure ongoing development and learning within their roles
- Key systems such as Clutch, MeridianLink, Symitar, Encompass, Synergy and Synapsys
Education:
- Related bachelor's degree or comparable experience
