Machinists delve into the very nuts and bolts that keep our industrialized society going; every product and every production line requires precision parts produced by skilled machinists.
These workers spend their shifts taking lathes and grinders to craft parts to specification; calculating dimensions; testing finished products to check for defects; and monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
The Computer Integrated Machining program at Durham Tech prepares students to enter this field. Upon graduation, the student will know how to understand mechanical blueprints, practice basic machining skills, and use computer-aided manufacturing software to program CNC milling and turning machines.
