When a piece of medical equipment malfunctions, medical equipment repairers are the ones who are called to fix it.
Their jobs also includes keeping track of the piece’s maintenance history and schedule of required updates; performing preventative maintenance such as cleaning and adjusting the equipment; and searching for repair parts as needed.
The Biomedical Equipment Technology program at Durham Tech equips students with the knowledge and techniques they need in order to excel at this profession. Courses cover math, physics, electronics, anatomy, and physiology. Graduates are eligible for jobs in hospitals, clinics, clinical labs, shared service organizations, and manufacturers’ field services.
