Position Description:
Uses component-based frameworks such as Angular to design, develop, and implement web applications in a dynamic financial services environment via JavaScript, Typescript, CSS, and HTML. Leverages stylesheet languages such as CSS3 to describe the presentation of documents and applications written in XML or HTML. Utilizes web services like SOAP and REST API along with open source frameworks to build stand-alone and production ready spring applications. Writes automated tests including unit and integration tests, and following Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies using testing tools -- Mocha, Jasmine, Selenium, and Protractor. Automates the integration of code changes from multiple contributors into a single software project through the use of CI/CD practices and open source platforms. Minimizes risk using practices -- A/B tests, blue-green deployments, and feature toggles.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Builds and deploys end-to-end features.
- Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan computer software specifications on major projects and proposes modifications and improvements based on user need.
- Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
- Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
- Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
- Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing brokerage and trading transaction processing applications for web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing brokerage and trading transaction processing applications for web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing omni-channel Options, Trading, and Research applications using shared reusable modules to reduce code duplication and improve maintainability of the codebases, and using client-side frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js, jQuery, and AJAX), programming languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS), and front-end module bundling and tooling frameworks (ESLint and Webpack).
- DE performing Test Driven Development (TDD) using testing frameworks -- JUnit, Mocha, Cypress, Jasmine, Jest, Wiremock, and Karma; building and maintaining web applications using VS Code, Web Storm, Eclipse, SCM, and deployment tools (Git stash, Jenkins, and uDeploy).
- DE participating in front-end build processes using Webpack, Angular CLI, and NX tooling; and integrating front-end build processes with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) process using Jenkins as a CI platform.
- DE designing and developing online retail brokerage APIs using Java/J2EE, Jersey, and AWS SDK.
