Note: This is a Leadership role, with 6-8 direct reports. The site location for this opening will be our Durham, NC office as part of our Hybrid Working model, and additionally, the final round of this interview process will consist of a mandatory onsite interview with the team in Durham, NC. Additionally, by applying to this role, you acknowledge you are solely responsible for the cost of relocating to your assigned site, as we are unable to provide a relocation package for this opening.

We are seeking an Engineering Leader to drive the development and execution of our Adobe Enterprise Content Management Platform, a real-time, cloud-hosted content platform that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you will bring technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership skills to align engineering efforts with business goals while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

The Value You Deliver

Strategic Engineering Leadership

• Provide technical expertise, thought leadership, and consulting across Product Management, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering teams within multiple business units.

• Design scalable, reusable, and simplified solutions, avoiding unnecessary customizations.

• Serve as a domain expert on Adobe Sites (Content Management System) and Adobe Assets (Digital Asset Management), staying informed on industry advancements and best practices.

• Develop robust integration strategies for Adobe Sites/Assets, ensuring seamless connectivity with services inside and outside the CMS, both in headless and traditional architectures.

• Lead large-scale content migrations from various CMS platforms into Adobe Sites, leveraging automation and best practices to ensure smooth transitions as measured by Net Promoter Scores from our stakeholders.

• Take a data-driven approach to understanding customer needs and shaping content management solutions.

• Collaborate with product owners and squad leaders across business units to prioritize technical efforts and provide expert recommendations on product features and capabilities.

• Partner with Architecture and Platform Engineering teams to define and align technical direction with enterprise technology strategies.

• Ensure solutions meet security, scalability, high availability, and compliance requirements, leveraging cloud-native platforms and best practices.

• Promote creative problem-solving and foster an environment where engineers can explore innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Engaging People Leadership

• Establish and communicate a clear vision, roadmap, and expectations for achieving engineering excellence within the team.

• Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent while fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

• Conduct talent reviews, performance evaluations, and career development planning to support the growth of engineers.

• Work closely with senior leadership to align workforce planning with business priorities, ensuring the right expertise is available at the right time.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• 6+ years of experience in Web Content Management, specifically with Adobe Sites Experience Cloud Service.

• Hands-on expertise with AEM development in AEM-Sites and AEM-Assets, such as, components, templates, sling models, OSGi services, content fragment models, experience fragments and workflow.

• Hands-on expertise with configuring and optimizing AEM Dispatcher for caching, security and performance and able to troubleshoot Dispatcher related issues. Knowledge in AEM Dispatcher rules, rewrite rules and load balancing techniques.

• Hands-on expertise with AEM Cloud Deployment Processes and setting up and managing AEM instances on Cloud Manager.

• Experience with Headless CMS implementations and AEM Content Fragments.

• Strong working knowledge to be able to guide the engineering team on CI/CD tools (Jenkins on Cloud, Kubernetes, Argo CD, DataDog/Splunk, Selenium, Git, Maven). Hands-on expertise on Java 21.

• 5+ years of people management and leadership experience in an agile software development, architecture, or platform engineering environment.

• 5+ years of experience with Adobe Digital Asset Manager (Adobe Assets) and expertise in integrating it within an Adobe Cloud environment.

• Experience integrating third-party tools (e.g., Semaphore, Nuxeo, legal review tools) into a seamless user experience.

• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing software engineering teams, with a track record of attracting and retaining top talent.

• Strong leadership in fostering innovation and a culture of inclusion, experimentation, and continuous learning.

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including:

• API development and data modeling.

• Scalable cloud-based solutions in AWS and Azure.

• Microservices, serverless, event-driven, and distributed architecture patterns.

• Experience working with DevOps metrics to drive engineering excellence and operational efficiency.

• Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders across business units, ensuring alignment on objectives, KPIs, and technical standards.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and executive-level influence skills
