Position Description:
Designs and architects Cloud native applications using technologies -- Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Implements process improvements within Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environments -- Agile. Collaborates with teams for the refinement and evolution of Solutions Architecture processes and practices. Architects, crafts, and builds highly scalable data solutions. Delivers next generation application platforms as the organization migrates its operational workloads to the public cloud.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops data architecture and data blueprints.
Builds capability through Cloud computing processes (infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data) to service every customer digitally.
Integrates data-driven strategies into design and execution.
Evaluates data related tools and recommends appropriate implementation patterns.
Mentors junior team members.
Designs, develops, and modifies complex and major software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
Develops and directs software system tests and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
Works collaboratively with a globally dispersed teams -- business domain leads, data scientists, product owners, Enterprise architects, and other functional leads.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing, architecting, and developing strategy for end-to-end Cloud and on-premises data platforms and pipelines within a finance and enterprise technology domain environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing, architecting, and developing strategy for end-to-end Cloud and on-premises data platforms and pipelines within a finance and enterprise technology domain environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and applying data warehouse and data lake solutions with high-volume data movement between transactional systems, operational data stores (ODS), and dimensional models for traditional RDBMS (Oracle Exadata and SQL Server), distributed platforms (Hive/Hadoop), and Cloud databases (Snowflake); and collating data from varied sources -- S3 files, Vendor files, REST APIs, SQL Server, RDS instances and streams.
DE building executive presentations and guiding strategic discussions with business partners to define product roadmaps that promote advanced data, Cloud technologies, and analytics capabilities.
DE modeling data for operational and analytical purposes using normalization and denormalization techniques in Sybase Power Designer; and defining and applying data governance processes (RBAC), metadata documentation, and data sharing agreements in Alation and Collibra.
DE evaluating, prototyping, recommending, and standardizing scalable data solutions, technologies and patterns on Cloud platforms -- AWS (EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, SQS, and SNS), SAAS platforms (Snowflake), on-premises implementations, and Open Source.
