Position Description:
Designs and develops systems and software application components according to Agile methodologies, using Java, C#, Angular, and Python. Develops Spring RESTful Web Services, using Open Source frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Core, and IOC) and core components (OAuth2). Develops applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud native tools and infrastructure -- EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, S3, IAM Roles, KMS, CloudWatch, Elastic Search, and DynamoDB. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application level architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing full stack Web applications and REST/SOAP Services and performing database development using Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud infrastructure in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing full stack Web applications and REST/SOAP Services and performing database development using Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud infrastructure in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing REST/SOAP Web Services, using Java8, Spring Boot, OAuth, and Python; building scalable messaging applications, using Tibco EMS queues and Kafka; and performing unit and integrations tests, using Junit, Mockito, Wiremock, and Cucumber.
DE developing database packages, triggers, and tables in Oracle database; performing database normalizations and Oracle query tuning using Dynatrace tool; developing PL/SQL scripts for data mining, validation, and library setup, using Spring JDBC and DBUnit; performing database design on database systems -- Oracle, IBM DB2, MySQL server, and DynamoDB -- using entity relation schema diagrams.
DE designing and developing dynamic responsive Web Applications, using Angular, Bootstrap, and Typescript; performing Test Driven Development (TDD), using Jest, Karma, and Jasmine; performing end-to-end application validation, using Cucumber and Cypress; building and deploying applications, using Maven, Git Stash, uDeploy, Jenkins, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) in a financial services environment; monitoring code quality, using Sonar and Veracode; and performing load testing using JMeter.
DE developing and running secure Cloud-native applications using AWS core services -- EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and Lambda; securing applications in AWS, using AWS IAM roles and KMS; deploying and running applications, using Concourse pipelines in Docker containers; performing infrastructure automation using DevOps scripting (Python and PowerShell); and building log aggregating dashboards, using AWS CloudWatch and Datadog.
