Drives the overall technical architecture and end-to-end solution architecture. Verifies stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture. Develops software applications using Server-Side (Java, Node.js, and Python) and Client-Side technologies (HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS3, and Angular). Implements internet security using OAuth, and Open ID Connect. Builds and deploys applications using AWS and Azure. Enables and accelerates application delivery by creating highly reliable, scalable, solutions that deliver key business value. Analyzes business direction, understands the long-term vision, and quantifies the risk/benefits by developing strategic technical solutions. Collaborates closely with the product owners and squads in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration. Evaluates existing systems to determine effectiveness and propose changes to meet organizational requirements. Directs the analysis, development, and operation of complete computer systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Delivers architecture artifacts, drive issue resolution, wellness plans, and product roadmaps.
- Monitors system operation to detect potential problems.
- Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
- Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.
- Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
- Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.
- Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.
- Consults on the documentation of major technology application.
- Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
- Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
- Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.
- Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
- Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Researches and recommends new technologies.
- Works across groups to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
- Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
- Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
- Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing, architecting, and developing strategy for end-to-end Cloud and on-premises data platforms and pipelines within a finance and enterprise technology domain environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing, architecting, and developing strategy for end-to-end Cloud and on-premises data platforms and pipelines within a finance and enterprise technology domain environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) solutioning, designing, architecting, and building scalable and resilient software solutions according to DevOps practices, using Java, Python, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Azure; and modernizing solutions and creating architectures (Cloud-based, micro-services, and Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs)) built on Docker, Kubernetes (AKS) and Azure infrastructure services -- SQL, and Service Bus.
- DE providing strategic direction on observability and application resiliency, using Splunk; providing technical leadership to Agile development teams; preparing and communicating solution design artifacts; contributing to the development of enterprise standards/patterns catalog; and contributing to a digital architecture blueprint by monitoring industry and technology trends.
- DE solutioning and designing low-latency and high-volume financial services platforms and systems: equity and option trading, wealth management financial planning, money movement, self-directed and managed accounts advisory, securities lending, and alternative investment – using Envestnet, Morningstar, Refinitiv Active Investor, MoneyGuidePro, and Adavent Geneva.
- DE designing, implementing, and governing secure architectures using OWASP, Apigee API Gateway, OpenSSH, Black Duck, Fortify, and SonarQube tools; monitoring and maintaining identity, authentication, authorization, and data protection components using PingFederate, ForgeRock and OpenPGP; and ensuring automating, logging, and threat monitoring adhere to enterprise standards using Splunk.
