The Role

Are you curious about a high impact opportunity for self- starter with strong investment and recordkeeping knowledge who excels at establishing relationships?

The VP, Tax-Exempt Retirement Distribution acts as an expert on fixed return annuities and retirement income annuities for clients, prospects, and consultants primarily in the Tax Exempt Market. You will work with Plan Sponsors to make educated investment and plan design -related decisions associated with their Defined Contribution and / or Defined Benefit plans. You will focus on helping our recordkeeping clients and prospects understand their fixed return annuity contracts and determine if there are better solutions available and evaluate various retirement income services/products.

You will be our client facing annuity SME across all of our corporate and tax-exempt clients and coming up with beneficial solutions for clients/prospects in the annuity space!

This role requires 40% national travel and is a US remote work from home position. #REMOTE

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15 + years financial services experience
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required upfront
  • MBA/CFA/CFP preferred
  • 5 + years’ experience working with Retirement Income products, particularly income annuities in the institutional marketplace
  • 5 + year’ experience working with fixed return, variable, and other annuities in the institutional marketplace
  • Possesses a strong technical knowledge of group fixed annuity products including stable value-oriented group annuity products accumulation, in plan retirement income annuity products and distribution/rollover-oriented income annuities. Solid understanding of variable accumulation annuity products a plus
  • Familiar with other Stable Value products (CIT and Custom Solutions) and stays informed about current market offerings
  • Ability to explain complex topics and nuances in RFP responses, to retirement plan sponsors and third-party consultants. Excels at presenting complex information to people with a variety of levels of understanding
  • Understands the 401(k) and 403(b) marketplace or the ability to learn about it
  • Participates in industry organizations with focus on Retirement Income and Stable Value – DCIIA, SPARK, SVIA, P&I, IRIC
  • Ability and desire to converse with clients (primarily Tax-exempt) and consultants on the topic of annuities, and annuity contracts, Retirement Income and Stable Value
  • Ability to develop an understanding of the Fidelity Proprietary Recordkeeping System (FPRS) and what possible retirement income annuity solutions are operable based on the systems capabilities and make suggestions of various ways to approach/simplify product complexities
  • Delivering Fidelity’s point of view on Stable Value annuities and retirement income annuities to the marketplace
  • Interacting with clients on a regular basis either by phone or face to face
  • Staying current on all relevant compliance requirements and for completing the associated administrative and reporting requirements of the role.
  • Working with groups across Fidelity to lead and shape the fixed annuity/stable value products currently held on Fidelity’s platforms.
  • Driving innovation in the fixed and guaranteed income space for Fidelity proprietary products as well as third party products. This will be in partnership with FILI, FIAM, and Asset Management business units
  • Providing thought leadership and product support to the Higher Ed Agile Squad as they develop new capabilities
  • Meeting with clients and consultants regularly as an SME on annuities and stable value products and Retirement Income topic for Fidelity (in partnership with the Relationship Management Function)
  • Attending prospect and client sales finals presentations when fixed return products or retirement income plays a meaningful role in the potential business to Fidelity
  • Leading sessions at Client Conferences and Client Advisory board meetings related to the importance of Stable Value products and Retirement Income
  • Participating in industry organizations and conferences to represent Fidelity POV on Fixed Annuity/Stable Value solutions and Retirement Income topic.

The Team

This role is part of the Retirement Income Distribution team in the Tax-Exempt Market. Collaboration with managing directors, investment management personnel, consultant relations, and product areas within the organization is a critical aspect of this role.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000-$219,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
