The Role
As a Senior Vice President, Business Development you will focus on selling Fidelity’s solutions and products to defined benefit plans, non-Fidelity record kept defined contribution plans, balance sheet assets and other institutional solutions to mid-market clients, defined as having retirement assets under $1.4B. This role will also work with public plans under $500M in retirement assets. As a key member of the professional staff, this individual will develop and implement a coherent, regionally focused business development plan and will be charged with raising significant amounts of new investment assets from institutional clients. Fidelity Institutional is dedicated to the institutional marketplace. This organization is a gateway to Fidelity’s broad and deep institutional investment management products and capabilities in equity, fixed-income, high-income, global asset allocation and alternatives.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA desired.
CFA strongly desired.
Series 7 and 63 (or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of U.S. and international capital markets, as well as Fidelity domestic and international investment subject areas in the equity and fixed income products areas.
Defined benefit experience. Familiarity with LDI and risk management solutions.
Experience selling target date solutions
Experience selling alternative investments
Proven success covering Institutions is strongly preferred.
15 plus years or greater experience in the financial and investment management industry, with a history of successfully leading multiple client relationships for a portion of that time. Asset management client relationship experience preferred.
Proven ability to build and execute. At least ten years of institutional sales/distribution experience working with institutional clients and their consultants.
Proficient and successful in selling multi-asset class investment solutions
Excellent presentation and communication skills needed to present, deliver and articulate the Firm’s positioning and development of existing and new products (FIAM and FMR investment products).
Ability to discuss complex issues and communicate them in writing to key constituencies in a straightforward manner.
Strong consultative, relationship-based selling skills.
Keen intellect, quick study of complex subjects and strong market knowledge of the Firm’s competitive position within discrete markets.
Outstanding collaboration skills, ability to work appropriately with portfolio managers, trading, research and fellow sales and consultant relations professionals to position and sell the full range of investment solutions for institutional clients.
Proven ability to work across a complex organizational culture
Self-motivated, driven individual who will find value-added ways to engage with CFO/Treasurers
In conjunction with the Workplace investing relationship lead, expand new defined benefit business opportunities within the prospect base
Excellent communication skills working with various groups within the Fidelity organization
Identify new institutional client prospects, speaking engagements at conferences and raising, appropriately, the visibility of the Firm.
Must be proactive and have excellent communication and presentation skills.

The Team
A key aspect of this role is the ability to engage sophisticated institutional clients to discuss a variety of investment solutions. This individual will need to be self-motivated and able to collaborate with internal partners to drive sales with institutions. The associate will regularly partner with our investment teams, both in presenting to clients, but also in order to gain expertise to represent our solutions appropriately in their territory. Located in the Southeast this position offers the opportunity to represent Fidelity's institutional investment capabilities to a broad array of complex clients.
