Position Description:

Determines the optimal research and analysis methodologies used to provide key findings and to answer a broad range of highly complex business questions. Interprets and communicates key findings to business partners and executive decision makers to assist them with critical business decision making. Uses tools such as SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, Python to analyze systems and data, and generate visualization that showcase Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analysis of outlier behaviors, degrees of variance, and performance improvement opportunities as they relate to business insights. Consults, creates, and quality checks the development and ongoing maintenance for new measures. Develops and builds analytics dashboards that help leaders run their businesses. Moves multiple high priority projects to on-time and high-quality delivery. Analyzes and displays information to drive insights and action, including the deployment of dashboards, reports and ad hoc requests. Communicates data-derived insights to influence business actions and strategy, including predictive analytics. Interacts and prioritizes across senior leaders’ requests when there are multiple demands on the team. Manages multiple projects and programs, and mentors and coaches other analysts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads multiple, high impact data research/analytics projects/programs.

  • Provides ongoing oversight making mid-course corrections as required.

  • Collaborates and consults with business partners to understand their strategic requirements and corresponding needs, deriving integral insights and information.

  • Recommends the optimal research and analytical approaches.

  • Translates complex data analysis into succinct explanations of results, outputs, and next best actions for improved results and presents insights and visualizations to business stakeholders.

  • Provides end-to-end solutions that can turn complex and large volumes of data into 'intelligent data' that answer critical business questions.

  • Supports business partners and directors to understand their strategic choices and corresponding requirements for insights and information

  • Recommends, designs, or leverages research and analysis methodologies to bridge business knowledge gaps.

  • Develops and implements ad-hoc queries to research and understand factors that may be impacting business performance.

  • Identifies trends and creates insights that answer business questions.

  • Demonstrates broader expertise in research/data methodologies.

  • Responsible for leveraging or developing a broad range of research/analytics methodologies that will result in key findings for multiple, highly complex projects.

  • Identifies, develops, and captures new metrics that provide more insight into the customer, associate, and operational experiences.

  • Mentors junior team members on data acumen and tool skills to share and reinforce data best practices.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) performing data analysis (using Snowflake, SAS, and SQL) and data querying (using Python, Tableau, and Alteryx) in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Data Analytics and Insights (or closely related occupation) performing data analysis (using Snowflake, SAS, and SQL) and data querying (using Python, Tableau, and Alteryx) in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) extracting, transforming, and loading data points from multiple systems (both legacy and cutting edge), ensuring data quality, recognizing patterns, and uncovering insights pertaining to various customer and associate cohorts in a financial services environment; developing clear and concise insights into cohesive and integrated stories for stakeholders using Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL developer, and Tableau; and acquiring, blending, and analyzing data sets for retirement and financial industry data, transactional history, call activities, customer attributes, and financial flows stored across big data environments (Snowflake, Oracle, and Redshift).

  • DE designing and building databases and reporting solutions on AWS cloud, incorporating data collection from Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Servers, EDL (Enterprise Data Lake), and Redshift systems; and automating data pipelines and coordinating data platforms using Alteryx and Snowflake.

  • DE conducting large scale quantitative, qualitative, and predictive analysis and modeling (and defining and articulating to business leaders the scope, results, and insights) using statistical techniques including Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest, and clustering.

  • DE using Tableau, Power BI, and PowerPoint to build automated business intelligence visualizations; and collaborating with analytics, finance and client-facing teams to collect technical insights and deliver business-oriented business recommendations in a financial services environment.
