Builds technical infrastructure required for Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) of data, using Informatica and Object-Oriented (OO) scripting languages – Java. Designs and architects Cloud native applications using Azure, Streamsets. Identifies and designs internal technical processes to enable greater data scalability using SQL, Snowflake, NoSQL, and Oracle. Improves software solutions and data services. Performs data validation, parsing and scheduling using Shell Scripting. Manipulates large sets of data using relational database technologies -- Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Collaborates cross-functionally to define, build, refine, and evolve resilient data platforms.
Develops performance optimization using SQL tuning.
Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
Assists in planning and execution of user acceptance testing.
Performs post-installation testing to identify and resolve technical problems.
Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing data engineering, advanced data analytics, and database performance tuning and automation within an Insurance, Healthcare, or financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing data engineering, advanced data analytics, and database performance tuning and automation within an Insurance, Healthcare or financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing data architecture and models; developing and implementing technology applications to identify data anomalies and patterns using SQL and Shell scripting; and implementing data virtualization techniques to stream data from data sources and vendors using data engineering best practices -- repeatability, modularity, and reliability.
DE analyzing data across the organization hosted on database platforms by writing complex SQL or PL/SQL queries in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake, and NOSQL datastores -- Mongo DB -- using Toad, SQL developer and MySQL workbench; and performing data virtualization with stored procedures to accelerate and provide advanced analytics, availability, and query performance using database monitoring tools (Ignite or RSMA report).
DE performing SQL tuning of complex queries and building technical infrastructure required for efficient transformation of data using ETL tools (Informatica PowerCenter, OWB, and DIH); and performing real-time data streaming to Azure Data Lake or Kafka using Streamsets (for reporting needs).
DE writing stored procedures to perform data analytics on OLTP and OLAP data warehouses; generating financial intelligence using Microsoft Power BI and Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) tools; and conducting jobs automation using scheduling tools -- Autosys, Control M, Dollar Universe, UNIX, and LINUX Shell Scripts.
