Job Description:
Designs, develops, and implements data capabilities to support Web-based applications across the enterprise -- external corporate website, intranet, proprietary employee management, and HR systems or data feeds -- using PowerBI and Tableau. Designs and modifies SQL stored procedures. Develops and modifies PL-SQL packages and stored procedures. Generates reports and supports ongoing maintenance and bug fixes using Cloud and Big Data concepts. Participates in and plans testing -- Unit, System Integration (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Conducts design and code reviews according to Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Cl/CD) methodologies. Researches, designs, and develops computer and network software or specialized utility programs to analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architects revamped designs, promotes accurate engineering decisions, and implements scalable and maintainable bug prevention strategies.
Reviews and participates in the development of technical design documents.
Designs and develops database tier business logic for Web applications according to Agile methodologies.
Communicates changes required to move code into a production environment.
Designs systems to obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project issues.
Advises senior management on strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing Informatica ETL and Oracle database development in a financial service environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing Informatica ETL and Oracle database development in a financial service environment.

Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) working as a member of a data engineering team responsible for developing high quality data solutions in a multi-developer Agile environment according to design and coding best practices; developing ELT pipelines to migrate data to and from Snowflake data store, using WhereScape Red, Python, and Snowflake; and loading data from flat files and JSON into Snowflake using SnowSQL.
DE performing code migrations, using GitHub, Jenkins, and Control-M scheduler; and performing SQL performance optimization for 1+ TB size data volumes.
DE performing ETL operations, using Informatica Power Center and Metadata Manager; developing data masking solutions using Unix shell script; and creating functional and technical design mapping templates and solutions for data migrations using Workday I Loads.
DE performing data profiling and analysis using Informatica Data Quality; preparing, analyzing, and portraying business metrics using BI reporting tools -- OBIEE and Power BI; performing data profiling and analysis using Informatica Data Quality (IDQ); pre-processing data to identify macro trends or information -- out-of-range values -- in Snowflake using SnowPipe loaded xml files.
