Lead Workday Integration Engineer

The Role

The Corporate Services Organization in Fidelity is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer - Workday Integration. The primary responsibility for this role is to design, build, and maintain support integrations for Workday, ensuring reliable, secure, and performant data flows between Workday and internal/external systems and also has ability to build and support Workday Extend applications.

The Skills and Expertise You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience overall, with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience developing Workday integrations using Workday Integration Studio.
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday Extend (formerly Workday Cloud Platform) development.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting Workday Orchestrations, EIBs, Studio integrations, and related transformation logic.
  • Strong knowledge of integration patterns and technologies: SOAP/REST APIs, XML/XSLT, JSON, SFTP, FTP, and file-based integrations.
  • Practical experience with authentication and security for integrations (OAuth, OAuth2, WS-Security, certificates).
  • Familiarity with enterprise CI/CD tooling and processes; experience automating deployment of integration artifacts is a plus.
  • Strong debugging, monitoring, and incident response skills for integrations in production environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders across HR, IT, and product teams.
  • Experience mentoring and leading engineers, participating in architectural discussions, and influencing technical direction.
  • Proven experience serving as a technical lead or senior technical contributor on integration initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Workday integrations using Workday Integration Studio and related Workday integration technologies.
  • Build and support Workday Extend applications and custom logic where needed.
  • Author, maintain, and troubleshoot Workday Orchestrations, EIBs, Studio Integrations, and custom connectors.
  • Ensure integration solutions meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional partners to deliver integration requirements.
  • Participate in code and configuration reviews, drive best practices for Workday integration development, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD and deployment automation for integration artifacts when applicable.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and create corrective action plans.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, and unit test plans for integrations and orchestrations.
  • Lead technical direction for Workday integrations as a tech lead: define integration architecture, set coding and configuration standards, and own integration roadmap and delivery plans.
  • Drive cross-team integration projects and act as primary technical liaison with Workday Platform, HR Business, and external vendor teams.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, run technical design reviews, and help scale team practices around testing, monitoring, and observability for integrations.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Workday Pro Integrations Certification
  • Workday Pro – Workday Extend Certification
  • Experience with Workday HCM functional concepts and HR data model.
  • Experience with AWS, containers, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Exposure to identity management, SSO, and downstream HR system integrations.
  • Experience with Java or similar languages used to build middleware/connectors.
  • Prior experience working in Agile teams and delivering incremental integration solutions.
  • Prior experience acting as a tech lead or principal engineer for Workday integrations or enterprise integration platforms.
