The Role

Do you thrive at the intersection of technical excellence and team leadership? Fidelity Charitable is looking for a Director of Email Marketing Technology. This person will lead a dedicated team of email engineers who build sophisticated, high-impact communications for donors, financial advisors, and nonprofit organizations. This is a rare opportunity to shape the email marketing strategy of one of the largest grantmakers in the United States, where your work directly supports the movement of billions of dollars to charitable causes. Leading a team of email engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex campaign builds, translating business requirements into advanced audience segmentation and personalization strategies, and architecting sophisticated customer journeys within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Serving as the primary technical liaison between marketing operations and business partners, ensuring that campaign execution aligns with organizational strategy and compliance standards. Developing and maintaining a technology roadmap that balances innovation with operational excellence, and championing deliverability, data integrity, and email guidelines across the organization.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Expert-level Salesforce Marketing Cloud practitioner with deep hands-on experience across Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Data Designer, AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, and CloudPages development.
  • Proven ability to architect data models, build complex journeys, and integrate SFMC with CRM systems and third‑party platforms (REST/SOAP APIs, Splash, ON24, Cvent).
  • Strong command of email deliverability, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), compliance standards (CAN-SPAM, CCPA, GDPR), and testing/optimization tools including Litmus and Validity.
  • Experienced team leader skilled in developing technical talent, communicating complex concepts to non‑technical stakeholders, and driving strategic decisions through analytics, capacity planning, and prioritization.
  • 7+ years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience, with at least 3 years in a people leadership role
  • Experience with enterprise-scale SFMC implementations in regulated or standards-based environments, including business unit hierarchy and governance
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications (Email Specialist, Consultant, or Developer) are a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Workfront or a comparable project management platform is preferred
