Creates the Data Architecture and Data Models for multiple key Operational and Analytics initiatives. Uses Customer Data Strategy and Master Data Management (MDM) tools (Reltio, Verato, and Senzing) to implement the various MDM concepts and matching rules for customer and financial instruments data management. Supports Data replication, ingestion pipelines, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Performs Extract, Transform, Load/Extract, Load, Transform (ETL/ELT) tools (preferred Python, Informatica, and Snaplogic), Data Integration frameworks, and best practices (SME). Uses relational database technologies (Oracle, Postgres, and Snowflake), Cloud native databases (Yugabyte DB and Cockroach DB), and NoSQL databases (Aerospike and DynamoDB); and enterprise decision matrix for databases, including difference between RDS and Aurora DB deployments. Participates in research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions. Acts as a technical mentor for applicable teams, sets vision and goals, and brings them up to speed on the latest data technologies and promotes continuous learning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Builds and improves data integration, modeling, and database design practice for primarily operational systems, with a goal to stretch into Analytics as needed.
Works closely with the business and technical teams to create scalable, flexible, and well documented data architecture that enables database designs.
Architects, designs, and builds highly scalable data pipelines in analytical and reporting systems.
Formulates data strategy, conceptual architecture, and works with development teams to execute the strategy.
Evaluates, prototypes, and recommends emerging data technologies and platforms.
Works on formulating data strategy, unified identity, and customer profile.
Works in a matrix team environment that presents significant change and tight timeframe.
Authors and reviews data architecture artifacts, deliverables, and processes.
Architects and designs next generation data products and platforms.
Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives and advises senior management on technical strategy.
Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.
Provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and (or foreign education equivalent) six (6) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and developing scalable and resilient architectures in a financial services environment, using Cloud technologies (AWS).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and developing scalable and resilient architectures in a financial services environment, using Cloud technologies (AWS).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing end-to-end Cloud based data solutions and software applications, using AWS Cloud, Python, Spark, and SQL; and designing and developing data warehouses, data lakes, ETL or ELT pipelines, and databases, using Oracle, Netezza, or Snowflake.
DE collaborating with multiple business stakeholders, understanding the business requirements, and providing end-to-end data solutions, using data management standard methodologies (data integration, data security, metadata management, and data virtualization) and Kafka; and architecting, designing, and building highly scalable operational, analytical, and reporting applications, using AWS Cloud, Oracle or Snowflake, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) or Batch frameworks.
DE evaluating and prototyping data technologies in data management tools (Informatica, Collibra, or Alation), AWS tools (Athena, Batch, DynamoDB, or Amazon Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), and Snowflake; designing high availability data architecture solutions for disaster recovery using Cloud technologies -- AWS or Snowflake; and creating data architecture blueprints using ETL tools and real time RESTful APIs.
DE coordinating customer and financial instruments data using Customer Data Strategy and MDM tools (Senzing, Reltio, and Verato) based on MDM concepts and matching rules; and facilitating data integration from MDM to other operational databases using stream technology (Kafka).
