Automates processes in native Cloud environments using Agile development practices, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) methodologies, and DevOps standards. Supports systems and software development processes -- version control, software builds, and containerization. Scales a growing public Cloud presence using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and Linux systems. Delivers reliable runtimes for business critical workloads. Deploys and supports highly distributed multi-tiered systems at scale. Provides technical leadership for container orchestration using Kubernetes. Automates applications using Python and Shell scripting. Manages data using DataDog, Prometheus, and Splunk.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interprets large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.
- Defines and executes comprehensive Cloud reliability and observability strategies.
- Ensures Cloud systems availability.
- Executes plans for technical standardization and process refinement within the software engineering organization.
- Troubleshoots stack-wide engineering issues related to hardware, software, network, applications, and Cloud service providers.
- Participates in peer code reviews and provides qualitative feedback.
- Mentors junior team members in building highly available Cloud systems.
- Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Advises on risk assessment and management strategies for projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues. Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing CI/CD and Cloud development on a Kubernetes platform.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing CI/CD and Cloud development on a Kubernetes platform.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing CI/CD for .Net Windows, Java, and Container applications; designing pipelines and creating scripts for application deployments, roll backs, and configuration changes using GIT, Docker, and Jenkins; and providing application support using Splunk and Datadog.
- DE designing adaptable solutions and automations in public and private Cloud -- RKS (Rancher), EKS (AWS), and AKS (Azure) -- using Python, Shell Scripting, Kubernetes, and Helm; and creating synthetic test and monitors using Catchpoint and Datadog.
- DE performing Site Reliability Engineering – analyzing the observability, resiliency, availability, and performance of applications; creating dashboards to capture latency, availability, error, and saturation (performance) of applications using Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog; and creating SLI/SLO dashboards and automated process to update changes and pushout new dashboards.
- DE building, testing, migrating, upgrading, and maintaining infrastructure and tools – Windows, Linux, UDeploy, Terraform, and Kubernetes Cluster rehydration -- by designing pipelines in uDeploy and Jenkins using API Calls, PowerShell, Shell, and Python scripting; and participating in the software configuration management process -- code compilation, packaging, deployment, release methodology, and work item management using SNOW and application configurations.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
