This is a 20 hour/week internship, running from August 19, 2024-December 13, 2024. All 20 hours/week must be completed onsite (3100 Highwoods Blvd Suite 140 Raleigh, NC 27604). This internship is a part of the Emerging Leaders Program, a partnership between Capitol Broadcasting Company and Leadership Triangle.

Job Description:

This internship will be a great opportunity for anyone seeking experience in digital marketing, social media, communications, and more! This intern will be responsible for posting on various social media accounts for our three stations (MIX 101.5, 95.7 That Station, and 99.9 ESPN The Fan).

WRAL Radio uses Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Threads, YouTube, and TikTok. This individual will manage content through web design on Divi WordPress, email marketing through Audience, and our station’s apps, as well as capturing content for both on-site and in-studio events.

Through all of this they will learn how to activate SEO through web and social, form a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our brand images, and develop the hard skills that are required by our various platforms- which will help them become a well-rounded digital strategist in their future endeavors.

Preferred Majors:

Social Media Management, Digital Marketing and Social Media Marketing, Marketing with a Concentration in Social Media

What Success in this Internship Looks Like:

Ability to work in a fast paced environment with varying personalities. Very calm and focused under pressure. Ability to work with a Team across multiple departments and independently. Ability to fully immerse themselves into this opportunity. Ability to take direction and coaching as well as to offer creative ideas for contect.

The Emerging Leaders Program:

The Emerging Leaders Program is open to rising Juniors and Seniors at North Carolina Central University and Shaw University. There are multiple internships at Capitol Broadcasting Company offered through the Emerging Leaders Program; please only apply to one internship.

As a part of this internship, you will complete 50 hours of leadership training with Leadership Triangle. Your hours with Leadership Triangle are a paid component of the program and all sessions are mandatory. As an Emerging Leader, you will be paired with a leadership mentor who will support you in three 1:1 sessions. You will be introduced to leaders throughout the Triangle community and have opportunities to network and grow your professional community. All students who successfully complete the Emerging Leaders Program will be admitted into the lifelong Goodmon Fellowship.

Additionally, you will take part in a mandatory cohort-only retreat in Rocky Mount, NC. The retreat is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 - Sunday, October 13. Leadership Triangle has arranged lodging. Meals will be provided. Emerging Leaders are expected to arrange their own transportation.

Emerging Leaders will be paid $16/hr. Additionally, each intern will receive $80/month as a transportation stipend. If you do not have your own car, you will likely spend more on transportation than is covered by the stipend. Leadership Triangle will administer all payments. This is a cohort based program, designed to promote networking across local HBCUs.

The application deadline is May 31. Interns will be notified of an application decision during the week of June 10th.
