This is a 20 hour/week internship, running from August 24, 2026-December 11, 2026. All internship hours must be completed in-office in Raleigh (2619 Western Blvd. Raleigh, NC 27606). A personal vehicle is not required, though you must be able to get to the office each work day. This internship is a part of the Emerging Leaders Program, a partnership between Capitol Broadcasting Company and Leadership Triangle. 

Job Description: 

The Learning and Communications Intern will support the Human Resources team by assisting with internal communications, learning and development initiatives, and process documentation. This role provides hands-on experience in developing scheduled communications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and online learning content that supports employees across the organization. The intern will collaborate closely with the Communication and Training Analyst and other HR partners to ensure learning resources and communications are clear, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals.

What You’ll Do:

  •  Assists with the development and maintenance of scheduled internal communications, including drafting content, updating templates, and coordinating timelines

  • Supports learning and development projects, including research, content development, and administrative coordination

  • Helps create, edit, and organize standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training documentation to ensure clarity and consistency

  • Assists with the development of online learning content, including job aids, guides, and learning modules within the learning management system

  • Collaborates closely with the Communication and Training Analyst to support training initiatives and communication strategies

  • Helps organize and maintain digital content, resources, and files related to HR communications and learning programs

  • Participates in meetings and project planning sessions to gain exposure to HR, learning, and communications workflows

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, provided they are reasonably related to the responsibilities outlined in this job description

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize assignments effectively

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

  • Comfort working with digital tools, shared drives, and online platforms

  • Prior internship, project, or coursework experience related to learning and development, training, or internal communications

  • Experience or interest in learning management systems, content authoring tools, or digital communications platforms

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools or content creation platforms is a plus

  •  Interest in corporate HR, learning and development, or internal communications

A note from the Manager:

The intern in this role will have unique exposure to a variety of businesses through a learning lens. They’ll learn about internal communications and instructional design through hands-on experience with the tools of the job. A successful internship should result in work samples to be included in a portfolio. We’re a small team of former teachers, and we approach our work with a mindset towards iterative improvement.  

The Emerging Leaders Program:

The Emerging Leaders Program is open to rising Juniors and Seniors at North Carolina Central  University and Shaw University. There are multiple internships at Capitol Broadcasting Company offered through the Emerging Leaders Program; please only apply to one internship.

As a part of this internship, you will complete 40 hours of leadership training with Leadership Triangle. Your hours with Leadership Triangle are a paid component of the program and all sessions are mandatory. You will be introduced to leaders throughout the Triangle community and have opportunities to network and grow your professional community. All students who successfully complete the Emerging Leaders Program will be admitted into the lifelong Goodmon Fellowship.

Additionally, you will take part in a mandatory cohort-only retreat in Rocky Mount, NC. The retreat is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 - Sunday, September 27. Leadership Triangle has arranged lodging. Meals will be provided. Emerging Leaders are expected to arrange their own transportation. 

Emerging Leaders will be paid $16/hr. Additionally, each intern will receive $80/month as a transportation stipend. If you do not have your own car, you will likely spend more on transportation than is covered by the stipend. Leadership Triangle will administer all payments. This is a cohort based program, designed to promote networking across local HBCUs.
