Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The NCCU School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Only five percent of business schools around the world have earned this level of recognition, cementing our commitment to exceptional business education. The School of Business MBA Program is offering a Master of Business Administration /Concentration in Real Estate and a NCCU Real Estate Center. The School provides a unique, professional environment that enables students to obtain a top-notch business school education. Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Business (SoB) is seeking to hire a Director for Real Estate Studies. The Director for Real Estate Studies supports the faculty, academic programs, MBA student concentrators, and the extracurricular activities of the Real Estate Concentration at the School of Business at North Carolina Central University. The Director will report to the Dean of the School of Business and to the Center’s Advisory Board (consisting of 14 RE executives). The work of the Real Estate program is fully funded through the endowments and gifts of its alumni and friends
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the real estate industry as a real estate professional
  • A deep understanding of the real estate market, including trends and developments
  • A passion for real estate and a genuine desire to work with students and faculty on a daily and personal basis.
  • A strong commitment to student success and graduate business education
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Some travel is expected.
  • Ability to work within a strong team-oriented collaborative environment, as well as autonomously
  • A demonstrated capacity to establish, cultivate and manage professional relationships
  • Ability to maintain collegial communications
  • Excellent communication skills that include effective and persuasive writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple responsibilities
  • Careful attention to detail; ability to listen and collaborate; a professional demeanor
  • A relevant post-baccalaureate degree required
  • For candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities related to consulting or developing course content, curriculum, instructional technique/technology, distance education design, development or implementation, will accept a relevant bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an academic center or similar educational administrative experience.
Minimum Education/Experience
A graduate degree (Ph.D. is not required), preferably from an AACSB accredited School.
A minimum of seven years of relevant real estate experience is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Establish an annual strategic plan highlighting new initiatives set forth by Advisory Board
  • Collaborate with varies state stakeholder such as: prospective students, alumni, recruiters, national trade organizations, and industry leaders to promote recognition of the NCCU MBA real estate education
  • Create a marketing plan in conjunction with Marketing and Communication and implement annually.
  • Develop new academic and co-curricular programming that positions the MBA Real Estate Concentration as a national leader
  • Develop a thorough understanding of competitive national real estate education programs to focus our core competencies accordingly and ensure our status as a leader in classroom-based and experiential real estate learning
Function Instructional
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Provide career advising and mentoring for all NCCU SoB MBA Real Estate students in conjunction with the Office of Professional Development
  • Provide direct oversight of the NCCU Real Estate club and its leadership team
  • Chaperone students at national and regional real estate industry meetings
  • Arrange for regular industry speakers at NCCU School of Business
  • Assist with annual events (conferences, case competitions, workshops, etc.), employer relations, and alumni engagement
  • Assist with classroom teaching (optional)
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Ensure the quality of on-going real estate studies programming
  • Provide direct supervision of administrative staff support
  • Conduct annual reviews of staff
  • Prepare and present an annual budget for approval
  • Manage the Real Estate Studies Advisory Board
  • Lead the Real Estate Studies Advisory Board meetings
  • Manage Real Estate Studies annual events (conferences, workshops, etc.)
  • Provide oversight of the Adjunct Faculty for the Real Estate Concentration
Function Public Service
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Establish and coordinate programs to enhance learning experience by collaborating with real estate industry associations
  • Assist the faculty in collaborating with corporate and community partners for experiential learning
Function Public Service
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Communicate with NCCU MBA real estate alumni and friends in a variety of formal and informal settings
  • Attend real estate alumni network events
