Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Primary Purpose of Position
As a next-generation public research institution, we are an inclusive community of thinkers, creators, innovators, and leaders striving to shape the future in the entrepreneurship world. NCCU is seeking to hire a Program Manager who will coordinate and manage the programs associated with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development which are designed to expose students to entrepreneurship and cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit. As Program Manager, this role will assist with building entrepreneurship skills and develop innovator resources (such as mentoring networks, content, learning tools and events) to assist beginning and experienced student entrepreneurs in learning about entrepreneurship and starting and growing new enterprises at NCCU.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
QUALIFICATIONS

General Skill Requirements.
  • A strong commitment to student success.
  • Proficiency in grant writing is a plus, but not required.
  • At least two years of experience with student or adult programming.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Some travel is expected.
  • At least two years of experience either in leading entrepreneurship or similar programs and/or as a successful entrepreneur is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Event planning and management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience educating and supporting students in a university setting.
Interpersonal Skills.
  • Presence and experience in interfacing with the community.
  • Must be proficient at working with people across teams to implement programs.
  • A demonstrated capacity to establish, cultivate and manage professional relationships.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and administrators across the university in a collaborative manner.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor or graduate degree (preferred) in business administration or
equivalent experience combination of training and experience. Higher
education experiencein teaching is also preferred.
