Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students’ educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at NCCU.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assignments Coordinator provides support to the Assistant Director of Housing Services and Residential Life leadership by effectively performing a wide variety of duties while servicing approximately 3,000 residential students. The Assignment Coordinator’s primary responsibilities includes student housing assignments, occupancy management, records retention, database management, and administrative support for residential life operations. This involves being a resource to current and prospective students, parents, and internal, and external stakeholders regarding the assignments process and procedures; including but not limited to processing room changes, processing accommodations, charging/crediting students’ accounts, and processing housing cancellations. Some evenings and weekend work is required. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement hazardous weather and other emergencies
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful staff member will demonstrate initiative, possesses the ability to work autonomously as well as with a team and maintains a positive attitude. Strong communication, administrative and quality customer service skills are essential. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills are necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
· Two years of relative professional student affairs experience.
· Proficiency in Microsoft office, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree in Higher Education, or related field.
· Live- in university housing and residence life experience.
· Competency in Student Development Theory and Social Justice & Inclusion.
· Knowledge of housing management system RMS Mercury.
