Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary functions of BRITE are to train BS, MS and PhD students and carry out hypothesis-driven research to fulfill NCCU’s mission to evolve into a strong research organization in biotechnology area
Primary Purpose of Position
The Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) at North Carolina Central University, will lead a coalition of HBCU/HAIUs, the first of its kind in NC, in the deployment of regional bioprocessing training hubs to address workforce equity in biomanufacturing. This project and the Program Manager position directly support BRITE’s workforce development mission.

Minimum Education/Experience
Must have a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred but not required.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the EDA BBB grant
Work with NCCU Office of Sponsored Research Programs (OSRP) and the 6 consortium site OSRPs to fund the sub-awards to the 6 Institutions housing the 6 sites in a timely fashion.
Manage project staff by providing appropriate direction and ongoing feedback, delegating tasks, and prioritizing work.
Define agenda, schedule, and lead bi-monthly grant project meetings and provide updates on grant project status, next steps, and recommendations.
Assist HBCU /HAIU sites to implement all phases of the grant
Responsible for the hiring process for grant-funded contractors.
Manage the budget for the grant and track project team in-kind hours and generate monthly report.

Coordinate the communications schedule and set-up sub-award client meetings

Tavel, as needed, to training hubs (with NCCU BRITE personnel or independently) to evaluate project progress and to maintain clear communications and good working relationships with training site key personnel
