Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Facilities Services Unit reports directly to the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Facilities Management and is responsible for providing cleaning service throughout NCCU campus. |

Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of this position is to Lead, clean and performs routine housekeeping in the residential buildings. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: cleaning common area bathrooms, maintaining common lounge areas, pulling trash daily, sweeping and mopping hallways and stairwells,high/low dusting, stripping and waxing floors and buffing hallways, Duties also includes moving furniture, cleaning equipment and snow and ice removal during inclement weather. Position will work move in and out preparations and weekends as needed. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of cleaning in a high traffic, fast paced academic and office building setting; knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) ; ability to perform heavy to medium physical work; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to work with diverse populations including department faculty, staff, students, university officials, public, and vendors; ability to multi-task in addition to bending and stooping frequently; ability to perform basic computer skills; ability to follow written instruction. Experience performing housekeeping duties. |
Minimum Education/Experience | Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions. |

Duties | Cleans the interior and exterior of buildings, using the appropriate cleaning solutions. Operates standard commercial laundry machines or services equipment to keep machines functioning properly and efficiently Duties: Leads staff in duties to include the cleaning and care of the dormitories, offices and public area of state buildings. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment, and delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. May involve sweeping and mopping floors and vacuum floor surfaces, maintain bathroom areas in a sanitary state, replenish supplies and soap as necessary, clean windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures, empty trash receptacles, waxes and buff wood and tile floors, replace light bulbs and florescent lights. |

Duties | Services, and/or replaces cleaning and maintenance equipment and machinery. Duties: Each shift employee is required to clean and prep machinery (buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, kaivac machines, floor scrubbers) for the next day’s use. Heavy duty gloves should be worn each day for pulling trash and light duty gloves should be worn when cleaning bathroom. Employees are required to read MSDS sheets before the diluting of chemicals for daily use. |
