Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Law School Admissions Office is tasked with the recruitment, admissions, and matriculation of new students into the School of Law. The unit is responsible for application processing, application review, recruitment, marketing, policy, and other functions of an admissions office. |

Primary Purpose of Position | • Completes and processes applications: reviews application for completion and ensures all required documents are received; reviews application materials for conflicts; receives and matches addendum and character and fitness statements from applicants; checks for gaps in education; ensures most up to date transcript is provided in application files; etc. • Coordinates with matriculated students to: certify responses to character and fitness questions provided in the application during orientation; receive and match final transcripts; schedule emails with new student information; complete other duties as needed for matriculated students. • Collects, compiles, and enters into Unite the enrollment materials from enrolled applicants to include biographical data sheets, transcripts, financial assistance forms, scholarship materials, international materials, etc. and subsequently file. Compiles transcripts and copies of applications for the Law School Registrar. • Responds to public inquiries about the Law School and addresses general concerns regarding the admissions process, while exercising confidentiality in accordance with policy and applicable state and federal laws including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Banner Finance, Unite, and PeopleAdmin or equivalent systems; knowledge of enrollment management and project administration; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); ability to interpret and apply admissions/recruitment standards and budget policies and practices; ability to work independently without direct supervision; ability to learn, interpret and analyze diverse information to make necessary decisions; ability to exercise judgment and discretion in identifying issues and related problem solving; ability to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; excellent analytical and organizational skills; excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills needed to effectively interact with a wide range of individuals. Oral communication skills are imperative because of the need to interact with applicants on a frequent basis. The ability to field such communications appropriately and with a welcoming attitude is essential. There are many communications received via email which must also be addressed promptly. Finally, the individual must be able to develop good working relationships with external offices throughout the campus, matriculated students, as well as other employees within the School of Law. |
