Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director for GHS TRIO Upward Bound Program is a crucial resource for developing underrepresented and underserved students. This role shares the responsibilities for the daily operation of the Upward Bound Program while providing leadership, mentoring, advising, and programming for students. This individual offers support and guidance to ensure academic and social success while promoting the positive effects of seeking college degree attainment. The Assistant Director is supervised by the Director and will assist in carrying out the long-term goals for the PC TRIO Upward Bound Program. Other responsibilities include performing a variety of professional and administrative duties that facilitate the day to- day operations of a function, program, and/or department. Assists in program planning and development; interprets, monitors, and analyzes information regarding operating policies and procedures; administers budgets; and coordinates academic and/or staff personnel matters. Resolves problems that have a significant impact on the overall goals of the department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of and/or experience working in a TRIO program or grant-funded federal educational programs work experience, and knowledge of collegiate procedures; Preference given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming economic, social, and academic barriers similar to the students; Administrative experience, grant management, and recruitment experience required; Public relations skills and personal qualities of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and a minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience, preferably inclusive of at least three (3) years of management experience within an educational environment (K-12 or higher education). Master’s degree preferred
