Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
To assist sponsors, administrators, faculty, and staff with Post-Award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the position is to assist sponsors, administrators, faculty and staff with Post-Award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University. The Accountant (Post-Award Research Administrator) explains, interprets and implements University, State and Federal regulations related to grant activities.

Accountant (Post-Award Research Administrator) Job Duties:
•Establish awards in Banner
•Manage award portfolio and provide compliance monitoring including reviewing grant expenditure detail and performing financial analysis for monthly reconciliations
•Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual budget and journal entries
•Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual grant reports and submit to sponsoring agencies
•Complete Grants Closeout Process
•Create and/or update forms in Microsoft Excel
•Assist with special projects as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of general accounting and budgeting principles, the Federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), State and University policies and procedures and be familiar with the practices of federal sponsors to include NIH, NSF, DOD and ED. Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of Banner Finance and RAMSeS or equivalent systems, Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word and Excel) and Federally Mandated Committees and their purpose. Candidates should possess the ability to work independently without direct supervision; take initiative to develop, monitor, and complete projects and assignments within designated time-frames; learn, interpret and analyze diverse information to make necessary decisions; exercise judgment and discretion in identifying issues and formulate resolutions; plan, prioritize and organize workflow. Other pertinent skills are excellent analytical and organizational skills; excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals to provide support, manage projects, negotiate, and explain information.

Entry-level with Masters; • Bachelors and 0-2 years experience
