Primary Function of Organizational Unit
University College provides academic advising, monitoring, mentoring, nurturing and coaching to ensure students’ academic and personal success.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Tutoring is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of the Supplemental Instruction Program.

Further responsibilities include designing, coordinating and conducting the SI Leader and Tutor training sessions, identifying targeted courses, monitoring the quality of the SI sessions, arranging for logistical support from campus community, evaluating the SI and Tutoring program, and advancing support for SI and Tutoring across campus by developing collaborative relationships. Additionally, the Director SI and Tutoring is responsible for providing Academic Counseling support to undergraduate students who need academic assistance to supplement classroom instruction.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Manage multiple tutoring locations (on campus and online), programs, and staff, including tutoring-related budgets (which may include categorical funds), as appropriate
Facilitate interdepartmental tutoring dialogues through meetings and regular communication among departments, division deans, faculty, staff, and learning centers
Oversee the use of tutor tracking software in all learning centers for the purposes of data collection and communication among tutors, instructors of those being tutored and supplemental
Collect, analyze, and disseminate campus-wide tutoring data, including the number of tutees, tutee demographics, hours each tutee is tutored, success rates for tutees in specific courses, funding sources and utilization
Conduct a program review for tutorial services, including the development and assessment of student learning outcomes and program improvement objectives, in collaboration with lab coordinators and staff
Coordinate hiring and evaluation of tutors in all learning centers
Identify need for, recruit, and hire embedded tutors
Train both embedded tutors and the faculty who use them in the responsibilities of an embedded tutor
Communicate with learning centers about embedded tutors hired in their areas
Observe or arrange observations and coordinate evaluations of embedded tutors
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
Possess superior organizational skill;
Demonstrate an ability to keep accurate and consistent records;
Possess knowledge of first and second year students, and transfer students; and
Possess a willingness to work nights and some weekends.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master Degree in education, counseling, higher education, or related fields.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, communicating, and presenting, as evidenced by excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate must possess knowledge of best instructional practices, SI Instruction, academic programs and curriculum, student success models, assessing quality, working with diverse learners and global education
