Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Advise, educate and train students who are enrolled in the School of Business at North Carolina Central University for executive and management careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina Central University is seeking a dedicated and experienced DE Coordinator to join our Department of Hospitality Management and Tourism. This clinical instructor position requires a passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering the growth of our diverse student body.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, or a related discipline applicable to teaching hospitality and tourism management at the undergraduate level. An MBA will also be considered.

  • A minimum of five years of university teaching experience, preferably in lodging and event management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adult learners and nontraditional students.
  • Experience in academic advisement, guiding students through their educational journey.
  • Experience with course and curriculum development.
  • Corresponds with online students on a regular and as needed basis.
  • Monitors student files for compliance with curriculum and graduation requirements.
  • Maintenance and updating of student program plans and course projections.
  • Processes new admissions and provides oversight for online student registration.
  • Reviews and evaluates schedule of course proofs for online courses.
  • Serves on several University and SOB Committees.
  • Supports coordination and planning and participate in online student orientations.
Minimum Education/Experience
A Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, or a related discipline applicable to teaching hospitality and tourism management at the undergraduate level. An MBA will also be considered.

Teach three (3) hospitality and tourism administration courses relevant to your expertise and experience each semester.

- Serve as the academic advisor for all program DE students, ensuring they are enrolled in appropriate courses before registration deadlines and providing necessary assistance.

- Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to enhance enrollment in the online program, in collaboration with the department chair.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.
