Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Counseling and Higher Education contains the Counselor Education Programs and the Higher Education Administration Program. The Counselor EducationPrograms are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and RelatedEducational Programs (CACREP).
Primary Purpose of Position
Instruct graduate students in a counselor education program, supervise counseling students in their field placements, conduct research and scholarly activity related to their discipline, and provide service to the University, the School of Education, and theDepartment of Counseling and Higher Education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates will possess an earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited Counselor Education and Supervision Program from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching in counselor education at the graduate level; research and service; and activity in appropriate professional societies. Strong interpersonal skills, strong identity as a counselor educator, and excellent organizational and communication skills are expected.
Minimum Education/Experience
Earned PHD in Counselor Education or related field from a CACREP-accredited
counselor education and supervision program.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
