Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Facilities Operations Unit reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management and is responsible for all aspects of the buildings on campus; academic, athletics and business auxiliary services. |
Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of this position is to perform building trades including but not limited to painting, sheet-rock finishing, carpentry, furniture repairs and various other repairs. Complete building renovations involving all the above technical services. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices; knowledge of understand principles of general building maintenance to include: roofing, carpentry, painting and other general carpentry works; knowledge of operating variety hand and power equipment in a safe manner; ability to follow instructions and be proactive; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required. |
Minimum Education/Experience | High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
