Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The NCCU School of Education offers undergraduate, graduate, licensure and professional development programs to train students to become teachers, principals, counselors, as well as serve as mentors to community schools. The School of Education offers traditional, classroom-based instruction as well as instruction via the Internet and teleconferencing. Faculty and staff bring diverse knowledge and experience, provide students with a unique learning experience; teach in small classroom size for easier access to each other and their instructors, and employ the latest technology.
Primary Purpose of Position
Primary teaching responsibilities include face-to-face, hybrid, and online graduate courses in counselor education and related areas. Supervision of clinical field experiences and research leading to publications and presentations at academic conferences is expected. Additional duties include academic advising, university service, collaboration, accreditation related activities, promotion of the program and the university, and other duties as assigned by the department chair.

The position is housed in the CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program located in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education in the School of Education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates will possess an earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching in counselor education at the graduate level, research and service, and activity in appropriate professional societies. Strong interpersonal skills, online education experience, excellent organizational and communication skills are expected.
Minimum Education/Experience
Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP approved program, licensed clinical mental health counselor (or eligibility) in North Carolina.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or NC eligibility.

Student advisement and participation in school and university service, and scholarly activities. Scholarly activity includes contributions to the profession such as serving on the editorial board of a journal or as a member/leadership position of a state or national counseling organization.
