Leadership and Supervision

  • Lead students by modeling involvement in the residential and campus communities.
  • Supervise, train, develop and evaluate undergraduate resident assistants and desk attendants.
  • Participate in the selection, training and recognition of resident assistants and desk attendants.
  • Coordinate and manage resident assistants’ and desk attendants’ work schedules in your assigned community.
  • Provide support to resident assistants in the coordination of residence hall programming.
  • Provide proactive educational interventions to minimize student behavioral issues
  • Advise the hall council in the assigned building.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Crisis Management and Response

  • Advise and refer students on matters of personal, social and academic concern.
  • Mediate roommate conflicts and concerns.
  • Report and document all violations of community standards, Residential Life policies, the Student Code of Conduct, University regulations, and state and local laws in Maxient.
  • Carry out crisis response plans as situations arise.
  • Participate in rotating weekly duty model responding to after-hours issues, concerns and emergencies.
  • Serve as a responsible employee, in compliance with Title IX, and a Campus Security Authority, in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, in order to ensure that any incidents or crimes of violence are properly communicated in a timely manner.

Residence Hall Administrative Operations

  • Support and assess residence hall programming efforts and customer service initiatives to ensure the effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Participate in residence hall on-call rotations, desk management and office hours.
  • Report student issues through the appropriate channels in a timely manner.
  • Administer the operational and facility functions of the residence hall.
  • Coordinate residence hall opening, closing and break coverage operations.
  • Serve on at least one assigned committee or project each semester (for example, Recruitment and Selection, Training and Professional Development, or Student Leadership and Programming).
  • Assist with major departmental events and functions such as RA training, student-employee selection processes, room selection and departmental programming.
  • Utilize technology, including (but not limited to) Maxient, Microsoft Outlook, and School Dude.

Work Schedule
  • 20 hours per week for administrative work which includes but is not limited to front desk and office duties.
  • Additional hours for on call, crisis management, and hall openings & closings.

Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Graduate Hall Coordinator manages the day to day operations of a residence hall and creates a safe and supportive community conducive to learning that aligns with Residential Life Policies, University Regulations, Association of College and University Housing Officers – International standards, and Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education standards.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of Residential Life is to provide approximately 3300 residential students with living accommodations which are clean, attractive, well maintained, safe and comfortable at a reasonable price. In addition, the unit provides a learning environment which supports the educational/academic goals of the University. The Department is responsible for contracts for room, student payroll/employment, building renovations, budget and purchasing, discipline and educational leadership programs. Residential Life works to create an inclusive on-campus housing environment that promotes learning, citizenship, involvement, and leadership. The Residential Life program is built on a student learning philosophy that values inclusiveness, discovery, benchmarking, community, communication, health/wellness and celebration.
