Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Central University (NCCU is a Historically Black College or
University (HBCU) with a mission to prepare students to succeed in the
global marketplace. We are consistently ranked as a top HBCU in the South
by U.S News & World Report. NCCU Business is a flagship program with
majors in Accounting, Business Management (Finance, Human Resources,
Marketing, Management, Real Estate, and Entrepreneurship) Computer
Information Systems, Information Technology (Data Analytics, Cyber
Security, and Information Communications Technology), and Hospitality
& Tourism Administration. We offer BBA and MBA degrees within the
School of Business. Our Program is accredited by AACSB, considered the
goldstandard. NCCU’S School of Business has an enrollment of over 1,200
students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The department
has faculty members who have published in peer-reviewed journals.

Primary Purpose of Position
The School of Business at North Carolina Central University seeks highly
qualified applicants for a 9-month, Clinical Instructor of Entrepreneurship
who will also serve as Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship
and Economic Development (CEED). The successful candidate will teach
undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship and related
business disciplines while providing strategic leadership for CEED
through the development and administration of innovative academic,
co-curricular, and community engagement initiatives that promote
entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development. The qualified
candidate must have earned Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or a related field
from an AACSB-accredited program or an equally relevant accredited
program in a related discipline. Candidates with a Master’s degree and
significant working experience in the entrepreneurship area will also be
considered. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with faculty,
students, alumni, corporate partners, community organizations, and
governmental agencies to advance the mission and strategic goals of the
School of Business and the University.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
entrepreneurship and related business disciplines. Faculty will engage
students in the study and application of entrepreneurship, innovation, new
venture creation, entrepreneurial finance, small business management, and
economic development through experiential learning and applied business
practices. While the School’s primary focus is teaching, maintenance of
academic qualifications includes continuous scholarly productivity in
discipline-related quality journals and/or sustained professional
engagement consistent with AACSB standards. Service activities include
selected committee assignments at the departmental, School, and/or
University levels. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent
oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; effective
problem-solving, diplomacy, and leadership abilities; a demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively and develop productive relationships with
students, faculty, alumni, entrepreneurs, industry partners, and
community stakeholders; and a commitment to maintaining high
professional standards and integrity. The candidate should also possess
the ability to develop and manage entrepreneurship programs, foster
innovation, secure external partnerships and funding opportunities, and
provide strategic leadership for the Center for Entrepreneurship and
Economic Development.
Minimum Education/Experience
The qualified candidate must have earned Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or a
related field from an AACSB-accredited program or an equally relevant
accredited program in a related discipline. Candidates with a Master’s
degree and significant working experience in the entrepreneurship area
will also be considered.

Faculty will focus on teaching, scholarly engagement, service, and
alignment with the mission of the School of Business. Primary teaching
responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in
Entrepreneurship and related business disciplines. Responsibilities
include teaching in face-to-face and online environments, advising and
mentoring students, participating in curriculum development and
assessment activities, and maintaining academic qualifications
through continuous scholarly and professional engagement.
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Serve as Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and
Economic Development by providing strategic vision and leadership
for the Center; developing and expanding entrepreneurship
programming across the University; fostering innovation and
entrepreneurial culture among students, faculty, and the
community; building partnerships with industry, government,
nonprofit organizations, and alumni; managing external grants and
donor-supported initiatives; organizing entrepreneurship competitions,
workshops, incubator activities, and outreach programs; coordinating
advisory board activities; pursuing external funding opportunities;
representing CEED at university and community events; and ensuring
effective administration of the Center in support of the School’s strategic
priorities.

Provide service to the School, University, profession, and community
through committee participation, professional engagement, community
outreach, mentorship, and activities that advance entrepreneurship,
economic development, and the mission of North Carolina Central
