Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Facilities Operations Unit reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management and is responsible for providing housekeeping services throughout NCCU Campus.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and train housekeeping staff on proper cleaning procedures, safety practices, and use of cleaning products. Ensures assigned buildings are serviced daily and that staff have the necessary supplies, equipment, keys, radios, and Gators to perform their duties. Reviews and submits SMARTTime leave reports by established deadlines and ensures MSDS information is posted and employees are properly trained.
Reports safety concerns and accidents, follows up on corrective actions, and provides recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Monitors inventory and, in the absence of the Housekeeping Administrator, orders and manages housekeeping supplies.
Conducts regular building inspections, addresses customer complaints, adjusts staffing to meet operational needs, and resolves housekeeping issues promptly. Oversees contracted housekeeping and pesticide services, including quality assurance inspections and remediation as needed, to ensure established cleanliness and service standards are maintained.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of university cleaning, safety, and training procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of record management and report preparation.
  • Ability to inspect buildings for cleanliness and document findings.
  • Ability to supervise staff and foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow assignments through to completion.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workflow effectively.

Minimum Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
