| Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The University College is at the forefront of retention and graduation efforts by providing information to freshman and sophomore students transitioning into the university on majors, degree requirements, academic progress, academic standards, policies, programs, and student information systems through educational planning, problem-solving, and resource/referral information. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of the Academic Success Coach position is to support undergraduate students in developing the skills, behaviors, and habits necessary for success in college. The Academic Success Coach fosters student persistence and degree completion by providing proactive, individualized support to a caseload of first- and/or second-year students. This role involves assessing students’ academic and personal needs, developing individualized Student Success Plans, and connecting students with appropriate campus and community resources, including tutoring, the university counseling center, student health services, and outside agencies when necessary. The Academic Success Coach works closely with students to evaluate the effectiveness of these services, provide ongoing guidance and support, and address barriers to their success. The position is also responsible for regularly monitoring each student’s progress, encouraging accountability, and helping students achieve the goals outlined in their Student Success Plans. |
