Job Description
The Grants Accountant reports to the Controller and will be responsible for assisting University grants officers, faculty members and other university officials with all aspects of post-award grant administration. This position prepares drawdown requests and reconciles grant activity and monitors restricted grant budget and financial reports for external agencies. The Grants Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the university’s grants on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc basis
  • Coordinates the audit procedures related to a variety of accounting processes and programs, taking the lead in working with auditors on the research and development portion of the Uniform Guidance Audit
  • Collects Financial Conflict of Interest forms and monitors faculty distribution of effort to assure compliance with federal and university regulations and other sponsor requirements.
  • Monitors federal grant procurements; collects supporting documents for compliance with government requirements.
  • Ensures that University policies and procedures meet new federal requirements and ensure that the variety of financial resources that the university receives are properly segregated in compliance with fund accounting guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or a related field
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in financial accounting and/or grant administration
  • Demonstrated ability to balance daily and periodic tasks with projects, many of which have firm deadlines
