Job Description
The Department of General Studies and Honors College is seeking applicants for Adjunct Instructors.

The courses include
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Spanish
  • Chinese
Both online and in-person adjuncts.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching students in History, and/or Philosophy, and/or Spanish, and/or Chinese courses at an Undergraduate level. Special consideration will be given to applicants who has teaching experience at the college level and specialized in African American history, and/or ethics and critical thinking, and/or the target Spanish language. Candidates must also have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in History, and/or Philosophy and Religion, and/or Spanish, and/or Chinese with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh, NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A four-year liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1,000, SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh, NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Required Qualifications
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Openness and willingness to request, receive, and provide constructive feedback
  • Competence with Microsoft Outlook and Blackboard
  • Experience in distance learning teaching with Zoom or Teams or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
  • Experience in in-person teaching in a “Smart Classroom” equipped with a laptop/screen/touching board.
