We are seeking a bilingual Mortgage Loan Assistant to join our Raleigh, North Carolina team!

The bilingual Mortgage Loan Assistant (MLA) will provide excellent customer care to mortgage loan applicants and realtors regarding loan application processing. The MLA will also provide high level administrative support to the mortgage loan officer by processing mortgage applications, assisting applicants, working with mortgage closers.

WHAT You’ll Do:

  • Track all outstanding items with mortgage application or file and follow up with borrowers to ensure timely receipt of necessary documentation.
  • Upload loan files into loan origination system.
  • Maintain effective communication with applicants, third parties and internal staff on loan status, follow up and/or documentation requests, loan completion and funding of loans.
  • Assist mortgage loan officer and processors with other related or administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the facilitation of closing loans with mortgage closers.
  • Compile and complete reports as assigned.
  • Work with mortgage loan processors on loan applications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor workflow to assure timely processing of loans.
  • Actively cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
  • Assist and support management by performing other duties as assigned.

WHAT You’ll Need:

  • High School Diploma and 2 years of experience in customer service OR equivalent related experience.
  • Strong commitment to Self-Help mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth borrowers and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization (essential Self-help values).
  • Well-organized self-starter with strong communications and computer skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of related legal and regulatory standards and required loan documentation.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
