Community Engagement Research (HBCU Promise) Intern
We are seeking a Community Engagement Intern to join our Durham Team!
Are you passionate about community engagement and strategic program development? Self-Help's Community Engagement team is seeking an intern to assist in building relationships and coalitions with mission-aligned organizations and fostering a culture of service within the organization.
WHAT You’ll Do:
As part of its 5-Year Strategic Map, Self-Help will strengthen its cross-functional Community Engagement Team to better equip dispersed staff and coordinate outreach across diverse geographies and lines of service. This team, housed within the Center for Community Self-Help, leads national partnerships and strategic initiatives that expand economic opportunity. Our work includes supporting historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), small businesses, mission-aligned nonprofits, credit unions, CDFIs, and community organizations nationwide through capacity building, research, and mission-driven outreach programs
HBCU Promise+ Legacy Program Support
Assist in developing program materials for the HBCU Promise+ Legacy initiative, which focuses on capital access, capacity building, and economic opportunity for HBCUs.
Support stakeholder engagement sessions and compile insights for strategic planning.
Contribute to reporting and impact measurement for program milestones.
WHAT You’ll Need:
Undergraduate or graduate students, recent graduates welcome to apply
Demonstrate a sincere interest in non-profit work, education, advocacy, or social work
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
An enthusiasm for learning
Strong attention to detail
Hourly Internship pay starting at $23 per hour
