Truist is currently seeking a commercial real estate attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel as a part of the Corporate Real Estate legal team. The Corporate Real Estate legal team provides legal services related to Truist’s use of real estate for the organization’s own use, including offices, branches and ATMs.


This role requires in-office presence and may be based in Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Winston-Salem, NC; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; Washington, DC; or Orlando, FL. Remote work is not available for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Providing legal support for a wide variety of real estate transactions, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing letters of intent, lease agreements, lease amendments, purchase and sale agreements, lease termination agreements, management agreements, vendor agreement and master service agreements, broker agreements, deeds, easement agreements, non-disturbance agreements and other real estate related legal documents.
2. Providing significant day-to-day legal support to management and business partners in Corporate Real Estate line of business on a wide spectrum of matters, including, but not limited to:

o Real Estate Transactions
o ADA
o Environmental
o Local Licensure
o Construction
o Litigation
o M&A
o Landlord/ Tenant disputes
o Land Use

3. Responsible for identifying and assessing legal risk, providing legal advice, and/or assisting in resolving and/or escalating matters which may present potential exposure to the company.
4. Communicating with legal partners and line of business clients on risk and compliance issues.
5. Providing support in connection with the development and maintenance of standard documentation / legal forms.
6. Performing legal research on issues pertaining to real estate matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing
2. 8 years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, and/or corporate setting.
3. Possess superior written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly
5. Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines
6. Able to work autonomously without close supervision
7. Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills
8. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Preferred Qualifications:
1. The candidate must be a self-starter, able to handle a wide range of commercial real estate transactional matters with focus on delivering results and managing expenses
2. Ability to manage competing priorities on a regular basis in a fast-paced environment with high level of autonomy
3. Experience or related training in the financial services industry or a related legal specialty
4. Experience in a corporate legal department having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility
5. An educational focus on business or finance
6. Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation

The annual base salary for this position is $167,000 - $200,000.
