Purpose of Department: | The Department of Sciences and Mathematics provides a quality education to prepare students for their chosen careers or post-graduate studies. The Science and Mathematics Department offers degrees in Biology (BS or BA), Environmental Studies (BA), Exercise and Sport Science (BS), Sport and Fitness Studies (BA), and Sport Management (BS). The department also offers minors in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, and Exercise and Sport Science. |
Summary of Position: | William Peace University, a vibrant and diverse independent institution in Raleigh, NC, seeks to appoint a scholar with expertise in the field of Exercise and Sport Science. The position, effective August 1, 2024, will be a one-year appointment as a visiting lecturer in the Department of Science and Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a full-time credit load (three 4-credit hour courses per semester) and will be eligible to apply for a continuing full-time position in the ESS program. |
Essential duties and responsibilities: | The incumbent is expected to engage in service and student advising and to participate in campus-wide events. Strong preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching courses in Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Testing & Prescription, and Nutrition among other related courses. The incumbent is expected to be proficient using standard ESS equipment (such as a Parvomedics metabolic cart), to manage the ESS lab, and to have experience using instructional technologies to support classroom and ESS lab activities. Candidates with experience teaching courses in Sport Management, Sport Law, Sport Finance and Budgeting, Sport Event Planning, Personal Training, and Sport Psychology among other related courses will also be considered. |
Minimum Qualifications: | • M.A. or M.S. in Exercise and Sport Science or related field • Experience teaching at the collegiate or university level |
Preferred Qualifications: | • Ph.D. or Ed.D in a Exercise and Sport Science or related experience • At least two years of experience teaching college-level courses |
Hours per week: | Full-Time (three 4-Credit Hour Courses) |
