Purpose of Department:
The Department of Marketing and Communications tells the story of WPU to prospective students, parents, and the greater community. This Department leads the integrated marketing efforts for the University in an effort to elevate and drive brand awareness and enrollment.
Summary of Position:
The Social Media Strategist & Content Producer is a dynamic, impactful role at the intersection of digital storytelling, brand strategy, and audience engagement that is essential for advancing the mission and visibility of William Peace University. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive social media strategies and producing engaging digital content to elevate Peace’s brand, support recruitment and advancement goals, and foster audience engagement across multiple platforms. This role requires creativity, editorial expertise, and a collaborative approach to showcase the full spectrum of campus life and academic excellence.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
  • Develop and execute social media strategies that align with institutional goals, ensuring a cohesive brand presence across all major platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Plan, create, and publish original, high-quality content — including captions, photography, video, audio, and graphics — for use on the institution’s social media channels.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Admissions, Advancement, Student Life, and Athletics to provide best practices and amplify content.
  • Manage a content calendar, scheduling posts to maximize engagement and relevance for various audiences.
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media and content performance using analytics tools; identify trends, measure ROI, and recommend data-driven improvements to strategy.
  • Monitor platforms and comments to provide customer service and maintain a respectful environment.
  • Train and guide student social media interns or contributors, reviewing and editing posts for consistency, accuracy, and alignment with institutional voice.
  • Ensure all content adheres to branding guidelines, accessibility standards, and best practices for digital communication.
  • Stay current with digital trends, platform updates, and emerging technologies to keep the institution’s social media presence innovative and effective.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, digital media, public relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in social media content management, digital content production, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube), analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Agorapulse), and content management systems.
  • Photography and videography experience or an interest in photography and videography for social media use with a willingness to continue to improve skills
  • Knowledge of content creation platforms (eg. Canva, Animoto, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Social Media Management certification a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the higher education community
Hours per week: Full Time (12-Months, On-Site with occassional remote work opportunities)
