Summary of Position: | The Head Coach, Men’s Volleyball is responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, and developing a successful intercollegiate sports program in accordance with the standards and goals set by William Peace University. This is a full-time position, with a general schedule including the traditional season, non-traditional season, and recruiting efforts. |
Essential duties and responsibilities: | Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: ● Adhere to all applicable NCAA and University regulations that relate to recruiting, daily program management and operation of the individual sport. ● Recruit quality student-athletes by personal contact, phone and written correspondence with player, coach, and parents. Evaluate ability of prospect in person or through videotape analysis. Frequent off-campus trips to watch games/matches/meets. Arrange on-campus visits for prospective student-athletes with the designated athletic administrator and/or the office of admissions. Ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects. ● Utilize Front Rush software to track recruiting activities. ● Coordinate roster goals annually with the Director of Athletics, which are in line with the enrollment goals of the University which are in line with enrollment goals of the University. ● Submit Yearly Plan for Program and Recruiting as assigned by Director of Athletics ● Schedule games, practices, facility, and vehicle use in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and other University staff. ● Schedule, plan, and lead practices. Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations on Playing Season. Communicate practice time changes effectively with the Coordinator of Facilities and Athletic Training Office. ● Evaluate team and individual performance. Develop and implement strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team. ● Oversee, with coordination with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, a conditioning program to ensure that athletes are physically prepared for competition. ● Oversee the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment including uniforms and supplies. Submit equipment and budget requests to the Director of Athletics. ● Ensure the safety of student-athletes and staff through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by the designated sport. ● Develop a competitive schedule in conjunction with the Director of Athletics. ● Coordinate team travel. Reconcile travel receipts in a timely manner. ● Prepare game plans based on scouting reports and team evaluation. ● Assist with home athletic event game management. ● Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes. Develop strategies to enhance the academic success of student-athletes. ● Compile and report statistical data after each game/season. ● Coordinate with the Director of Athletic Communications to promote the team through social media and gopeacepacers.com ● Promote positive alumni engagement with the team, department, and University. ● Assist with approved fundraising activities, as requested. ● Participate in, organize, and lead clinics, exhibitions, and camps, as approved. ● Attend Athletic Department staff meetings. ● Work with a diverse population of prospective student athletes, students, families, employees, and guests. ● Perform other job-related duties and projects assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES ● Supervises Assistant Coaches in all aspects of team management. Responsible for ensuring that all Assistants are in compliance with both NCAA and University rules and regulations. Responsible for campus facilities and equipment during practices/home sporting events. |
Minimum Qualifications: | ● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university and at least two years of head coach experience |
Preferred Qualifications: | ● College Head Coach Experience ● AED, CPR and First Aid certification per NCAA regulations. All registrations required by the NCAA and USA South Athletic Conference. |
