Summary of Position:
SUMMARY The Associate Director for Residence Life and Housing is a live-on site professional responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the Residence Life and Housing department. Duties include supervision of select housing facilities on campus; providing educational programs to faculty, staff, and students; overseeing the selection, training, and supervision of paraprofessional staff; assisting students with transitional needs; enforcing policies; overseeing residential academic initiatives and maintaining an environment within the area that is conducive to living and learning.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director of Residence Life & Housing, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Manage housing assignments and occupancy operations:
  • Process room changes and maintain accurate occupancy records.
  • Oversee reassignment logistics and coordination with Village Green.
  • Maintain updated weekly occupancy reports, room inventories, inspection forms, maintenance request forms, and housing brochures.
- Coordinate student leadership, FYSS involvement, DEI initiatives, and student engagement programs within Residence Life.
- Participate in the selection, hiring, and training of paraprofessional staff.
- Adjudicate student conduct appeals and support consistency in the student conduct process.
- Oversee residential opening, closing, and break housing operations.
- Lead coordination of Village Green housing during academic year and summer.
- Respond to student concerns, parent outreach, and crisis situations as needed.
- Assign and participate in daily, weekend, and break duty rotations with Residence Life staff.
- Provide accurate housing information and participate in onboarding and campus tours.
- Meet regularly with students to address suggestions, concerns, and needs.
- Maintain weekly office hours and serve in the on-call duty rotation.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Student Life offices, Facilities, Business Office, Dining Services, Public Safety, Registration & Records, Enrollment Services, and Academic Affairs.
- Assist in budget planning and management in collaboration with the Director.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development activities.
- Coordinate special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate on departmental training and development for both professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Partner on strategic planning, retention-focused initiatives, and student success interventions.
- Participate in departmental assessment and contribute to the institutional effectiveness process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise 1 Area Coordinator. Indirectly supervise Resident Assistants and other student workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related area with three years of experience in higher education in Student Affairs, educational programming, student conduct adjudication, mediation/conflict resolution, advisement/counseling, residence life and housing.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience, experience overseeing training and selection processes, experience with residential engagement experiences, experience serving on an on-call rotation, experience at a private liberal arts institution.
Hours per week: Full Time (12-Months, Live-on)
