Department: Business Office
Purpose of Department:
The Business Office at William Peace University Business Office is committed to providing responsible management of financial resources with accuracy and integrity. Primary areas of focus include budget management, financial reporting, accounts payable, purchasing, student accounts, payroll, cash management, endowment management and debt management. We value work that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and people.

Summary of Position:
This position oversees all payroll duties for the University. This includes two payroll runs per month, two payroll schedules to be updated annually, and payroll tax setup and processing in each state in which employees reside. This position manages time keeping and processing and assists employees with payroll, W2, withholdings, and direct deposit questions. The Coordinator also creates and runs ad-hoc payroll and deduction reports and maintains appropriate accounting controls.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Processes semi-monthly payrolls for Exempt and Non-Exempt payroll schedules
  • Manually enters stipend-based payments in payroll system (Paycom) including adjunct payments, student positions, and other one-time/recurring payments
  • Oversees employee timecards and timecard approvals. Alongside the Office of Human Resources, works with employees and supervisors to ensure correct timekeeping
  • Collaborates with the Office of Human Resources on pay changes, changes to benefit enrollment, and other personnel updates to ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Oversees payroll taxes, working with the payroll vendor to set up new tax profiles

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or similar area and 3 years of professional experience in payroll processing.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with Paycom or similar HRIS
  • Prior experience in Higher Education
