The department supports students from inquiry through graduation by coordinating enrollment, academic success, career progression, retention, and completion efforts for online and adult-learning programs.
Summary of Position:
The Credit for Prior Learning and Career Progression Coordinator supports all William Peace University students, with a primary focus on Peace Online and military-connected learners. The position provides leadership for the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of Peace’s Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) process, ensuring that students can translate prior learning into academic progress. In collaboration with Academic Affairs, the Registrar, Financial Aid, advising, Peace Online, Career Services, and faculty, the Coordinator ensures that approved credit is accurately applied and that students receive coaching for career advancement, job search strategies, and transition into new roles. The position offers specialized resources, orientation, and career guidance tailored to the unique needs of military-connected and veteran students while remaining an accessible resource for all learners across the university.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
CPL policy and process management

  • Lead the development and implementation of institutional CPL policies, procedures, forms, and workflows in collaboration with Academic Affairs partners.
  • Coordinate the student-facing CPL process, including outreach, intake, document collection, case tracking, and communication with students, advisors, and faculty reviewers.
  • Serve as a liaison among academic departments, Academic Advising, the Registrar, Financial Aid, and student support offices to ensure accurate evaluation, transcription, and application of CPL credit.
  • Coordinate with the School Certifying Official to ensure that prior training and credit for students using VA education benefits are evaluated and documented as required.
  • Ensure CPL policies and processes adhere to institutional policies, academic standards, and accreditation requirements, including requirements for credit evaluation, documentation, and degree completion
Prior learning evaluation support
  • Support and manage evaluation pathways for prior learning, including military transcripts (e.g., the Joint Services Transcript and American Council on Education credit recommendations), industry certifications, employer training, portfolio assessment, and other approved forms of CPL.
  • Assist with the development of department-approved review rubrics, documentation practices, and equitable assessment processes aligned with program and course outcomes.
  • Advise students on available CPL options and help them understand how prior learning can accelerate academic progress, reduce duplicative coursework, and support degree completion.
  • Coordinate evaluation requests with faculty and academic departments, monitor review timelines, and communicate requirements, status updates, and decisions to students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, the Registrar, and academic advisors to ensure approved CPL credit is accurately documented, recorded, and applied to students’ degree requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPL best practices, accreditation requirements, and state/federal guidelines.
Career progression support
  • Provide high-impact, individualized career progression coaching for Peace Online students and other adult learners, extending the reach of Career Services to learners not typically served by campus-based programming, including career exploration, advancement planning, resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, and job search strategy.
  • Help students translate workplace and military experience into academic pathways and career goals, including support for career transition and advancement.
  • Develop and maintain student-facing resources, workshops, and advising materials related to career progression, CPL opportunities, and pathways for online and military-connected learners.
  • Partner with Career Services, Peace Online staff, and faculty to embed career progression and CPL conversations into advising, new student orientation, and program completion for online and military-connected learners.
Collaboration and campus training
  • Collaborate with the Director of Career Design and Employer Engagement to connect Peace Online students and other learners with internships, virtual opportunities, employer networks, and career-connected learning experiences.
  • Train faculty and staff on CPL standards, workflows, and effective support strategies for adult, online, and military-connected learners.
  • Work with campus partners to strengthen communication, referral, and support systems related to CPL, career coaching, and student progression.
  • Partner with faculty to identify connections between course student learning outcomes and career-relevant skills, helping students articulate how their learning applies to workplace expectations and career goals.
Data, reporting, and grant support
  • Maintain CPL and career progression data, prepare reports, and monitor outcomes related to student participation, credit awards, persistence, completion, and use of services.
  • Track and assess student engagement and outcomes related to career coaching and CPL utilization, using data to refine programming and inform institutional retention and completion efforts.
  • Assist with assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement activities connected to Title III project goals.
  • Support institutional reporting and the use of data to improve access, equity, and effectiveness of CPL and career support services.
