Job Title: HR Generalist
Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid.
Job Summary:
The HR Generalist contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs and initiatives. This role exercises independent judgment in areas including HR operations, employee engagement, leave and accommodation processes, HRIS integrity, and offboarding. The HR Generalist builds strong relationships across the organization, provides guidance to employees and managers, and supports the strategic goals of the HR function.
As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:
(30%) HR Operations
- Provide consultative guidance to employees and managers on routine HR matters, applying policy knowledge and sound judgment to resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain HR communications, resources, and policy interpretations that support consistent organizational practices.
- Analyze HR data and create dashboards tracking workforce metrics such as turnover, headcount, engagement trends, and compliance indicators; make recommendations based on findings.
- Partner with the HR Manager to evaluate and refine HR processes to improve service delivery and organizational effectiveness.
(20%) Employee Engagement
- Lead the planning and implementation of engagement initiatives, including the annual Employee Engagement Survey.
- Administer employee recognition programs, ensuring alignment with company values and providing insights to leadership on participation and impact.
- Contribute to the deployment of wellness initiatives and HR-led events, ensuring programs support workforce well-being and engagement goals.
(20%) ADA Administration
- Serve as an initial resource for accommodation and leave inquiries, providing guidance on policies, processes, and employee rights.
- Manage the intersection of ADA with FMLA and Short-term Disability considerations to ensure consistency, compliance, and timely communication.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, identify trends in accommodation requests, and recommend opportunities to strengthen processes.
(20%) Payroll & HRIS
- Serve as backup to the Payroll Administrator, independently managing and executing a minimum of four payroll cycles annually to ensure timely and accurate payroll delivery.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of HRIS and payroll data by analyzing, auditing, and updating records.
- Collaborate with payroll administrator to ensure the timely and compliant processing of compensation changes, adjustments, and organizational updates.
(10%) Offboarding
- Lead the offboarding process end-to-end, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and a positive employee experience.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze themes, and report insights to HR leadership to support retention and organizational improvement.
- Manage process enhancements related to offboarding, partnering with IT, payroll, and department leaders to ensure timely completion of all activities.

Experience
- Minimum two years of experience in human resources operations.
- Experience with Paycom or similar HR system a plus.
- Knowledge of HR principles and interest in growing HR expertise.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; or SHRM-CP or PHR Certification; or an additional four years of experience in lieu of degree.
- HR coursework or pursuit of HR certification (e.g., SHRM‑CP, PHR) preferred.
